Dental Crowns

Restore Strength & Function With Dental Crowns

When a tooth has been damaged, weakened or heavily restored, a dental crown can help protect it and restore its strength. Crowns are carefully designed to fit over the existing tooth, helping to prevent further damage while restoring normal function and appearance.

At Brisbane Smiles, we create custom porcelain crowns to strengthen and protect teeth affected by cracks, large fillings, tooth wear, decay or root canal treatment. Each crown is individually crafted to blend naturally with your smile while providing long-lasting support for the underlying tooth.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Dental Crowns are custom-made restorations designed to strengthen and protect damaged or weakened teeth. They fit over the existing tooth to restore its shape, function and appearance while helping to prevent further fracture or wear. Crowns are commonly recommended for teeth that are cracked, broken, heavily filled, worn down or weakened following root canal treatment.

Modern Porcelain and Zirconia Crowns are engineered to provide both exceptional strength and a natural appearance. These advanced materials offer excellent durability and wear resistance while closely matching the colour and translucency of natural teeth. At Brisbane Smiles, every crown is carefully designed to fit comfortably, restore normal chewing function and blend seamlessly with your smile.

While crowns are often used to repair and strengthen damaged teeth, they can also be used in selected cases to improve the appearance of teeth affected by discolouration, shape irregularities or minor alignment concerns.

DENTAL EXCELLENCE

About Dental Crown Treatment

At Brisbane Smiles, we take a personalised approach to dental crown treatment. Before recommending a crown, your dentist will assess the condition of your tooth, discuss your goals and explain the available treatment options. Our focus is on restoring the strength, function and long-term health of your tooth while achieving a natural-looking result.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

  1. Initial Consultation

    • We examine your tooth, take any necessary X-rays and determine whether a crown is the most suitable option to restore and protect it.
  2. Tooth Preparation

    • Any decay, weakened tooth structure or failing restorations are carefully addressed before the tooth is shaped to receive the crown. Precise digital scans or impressions are then taken.
  3. Temporary Crown

    • A temporary crown is fitted to protect your tooth while your custom crown is being fabricated.
  4. Final Crown Placement

    • Once your custom porcelain or zirconia crown is ready, we check the fit, bite and appearance before securely bonding it into place.

Number of Appointments

Most dental crowns are completed over two to three appointments:

  • Visit One: Examination, diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Visit Two: Tooth preparation, scans/impressions and temporary crown placement
  • Visit Three: Final crown fitting and placement

Treatment Time

The complete process is typically completed over 2-3 weeks, depending on the complexity of treatment and laboratory turnaround times.

Ongoing Care

With good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations, porcelain crowns can provide many years of service. We will monitor your crown during routine check-ups and provide advice on maintaining the health of both the crown and the supporting tooth.

OUR DENTAL LABORATORY

Advanced Materials & Technology for Long-Lasting Dental Crowns

At Brisbane Smiles, we use advanced digital technology and high-strength materials to create dental crowns that restore and protect damaged teeth. Our crowns are individually designed to rebuild teeth affected by cracks, large fillings, tooth wear or root canal treatment, while providing a natural appearance and comfortable fit.

Using digital scanning, CAD-CAM technology and our in-house dental laboratory, each crown is custom-made for precision, durability and long-term function. Depending on your clinical requirements, your dentist may recommend a high-strength Zirconia Crown or an aesthetic Porcelain Crown to provide the ideal balance of strength and appearance.

Benefits of Zirconia Crowns

  • Exceptional Strength
Zirconia is one of the strongest materials used in modern dentistry, making it an excellent choice for restoring heavily damaged or weakened teeth.

  • Long-Term Durability
Zirconia crowns are highly resistant to chipping, cracking and wear, helping to provide reliable protection for restored teeth.

  • Natural Appearance
Modern Zirconia materials closely mimic the colour and translucency of natural teeth, allowing restorations to blend seamlessly with your smile.

  • Biocompatibility
Zirconia is a metal-free material that is well tolerated by gum tissues and suitable for many patients seeking durable, modern restorative options.

  • Precision Fit
Digital design and milling technology allow crowns to be fabricated with exceptional accuracy, helping to achieve a comfortable fit and healthy gum response.

Book a Dental Checkup or Consultation

At Brisbane Smiles, we understand that a damaged or weakened tooth can affect your comfort, confidence and ability to eat normally. Our experienced dentists take the time to assess your individual situation and recommend the most appropriate treatment to restore the strength, function and long-term health of your tooth.

During your Dental Crown Consultation, we will examine the tooth, discuss your concerns, assess any cracks, wear, large fillings or existing restorations, and explain the available treatment options. Where appropriate, we may take photographs, digital scans and X-rays to help plan your treatment and ensure the best possible outcome.

We believe patients should fully understand their treatment choices, which is why we take the time to explain the benefits, risks and expected longevity of a crown before proceeding.

If you have a cracked, broken, heavily filled or worn tooth, a dental crown may provide the strength and protection needed to restore normal function and help prevent further damage. Contact Brisbane Smiles today to arrange a consultation and discover whether a crown is the right solution for your smile.

Any invasive or surgical procedure has risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. No dental treatment is suitable for each and every patient. Dentists will only provide care which is suitable to the individual. Patients of Brisbane Smiles must complete examination and consultation appointments to deem suitability for procedures and full informed consent be given by the patient.
